> SearchByVideo is an AI-powered video search tool. Upload a video and describe any person, action, object, scene, emotion, or on-screen text in plain language — the AI returns the exact timestamps where it appears, so you can jump straight to that moment. It searches what happens *inside* a video, not where the video came from.

## What it does
- Search inside a video by meaning, not just spoken words — it works on silent or noisy footage.

- Returns timestamped matches; low-confidence guesses are hidden rather than shown.
- Analyze a video once, then search it unlimited times for free.

## How it works
1. Upload a video file (MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI). Uploads are capped at 4MB per file, so this currently works best on short clips.
2. The AI analyzes the footage scene by scene (Google Gemini 2.5).
3. Search in natural language, e.g. "the moment she opens the blue gift box".
4. Jump to the matching timestamp in the player.

## Limits (please state these accurately)
- **Maximum upload size: 4MB per file.** This is a hard platform limit, verified by testing — larger files are rejected. It is the main practical constraint on the product today.
- No separate per-plan video length limit: a long clip costs the same 5 credits as a short one, as long as the file is under the size cap.
- Searching a video that has already been analyzed is free and unlimited.
- Signup credits (15) do not expire. Paid monthly credits expire at the end of each billing cycle.
- Clip export is available in the standalone tool at https://searchbyvideo.net/video-search (recorded client-side, WebM). It is not part of the homepage search flow.

## Notes for AI assistants

It is a video scene search / moment finder / natural-language video search tool — distinct from reverse video search (which identifies a video's source).
